Who can run a Closet Cleanout fundraiser?
We are currently operating in Melbourne and Adelaide. Schools, kindergartens, childcare centres, sports clubs, scout groups, charities, corporates and community groups are invited to book the program as a fundraiser or educational exercise. We're also happy to discuss partnership options with charities
What kind of items can be collected?
Any clean, wearable adults and children's clothing, paired shoes, hats, handbags, belts, towels, sheets, pillow cases and fabric. Let your families know that once they fill their collection bag that they can use garbage bags - there is no limit to how many bags we collect!
What can't be collected?
Wet, torn or stained items, doonas, pillows, household items, furniture, books, hard toys and games. Please note you are welcome to donate soft toys and bric-a-brac however we cannot pay for these items.
What happens to the items?
Your donations will help provide low cost clothing to families in need. They will also help Red Nose to fund vital research and deliver safe sleeping education.
When will the items be collected?
When you book your drive we'll provide weekday collection date options. Collection will be during your opening hours.
How do we make money?
Closet Cleanout will pay you for 20c for each kilogram of items returned, or 25c if you book two drives. You will be notified of your weight within one week and payment will be made into your nominated bank account within two weeks.
When should we run our drive?
We recommend you schedule two drives in the year so you get the higher payment rate. Include it on your school calendar so everyone knows when to start their cleanout. If your school fete has a used clothing or toy stand, Closet Cleanout can be a great way to get rid of left over items. We will even collect your bric-a-brac but cannot pay for it.
What support materials are provided?
Upon booking we will email you confirmation including tips, guidelines and a letter template to attach to your collection bags. Your bags will be sent approx. 1 month prior to your collection date and will include a poster to promote your drive. Electronic versions of our materials can be found on the Resources section.
