Bittern Primary's "War on Waste"
Bittern Primary School recently completed their first Closet Cleanout fundraiser and what a great result for a relatively small school - we collected over 300kgs!
Fundraising team members helped spread the word about the drive to the wider community by advertising on both the school's Facebook page, as well as their own. They were lucky enough to reach a man who decided to donate a heap of bags he had ready for the op shop, to the school instead. They also advertised in the school newsletter and sent a letter home to parents.
Fundraising Coordinator, Hayley believes the ABC's War on Waste program, available on Closet Cleanout's website here, helped to educate and encourage students leading up to and during the drive. "It was great to see the kids so engaged with the initiative" she said. "It was an easy one for all involved and we are already looking forward to our next one in October".
As the school has booked two drives for the year they receive 25c per kilo collected. Hayley said they hope to exceed their last total in their next collection.
Good luck Bittern Primary School!
